I know traditionally there are several 'guidelines' 10% of annual salary or 2 months salary … what is reasonable? And I am not talking about cheap stuff – something you would find at EE Robbins, Shane Co (Seattle area stores) … your reputable engagement ring store.

Any suggestions/recommendations toward price/cost? We looked at a ring (for fun) at Tiffany – think it was 2karat for 87k … she was laughing at my gasp for air. Didn't know if she was just messing with me or if there was a bit of seriousness to this!

i have a cartier tank watch i do not know if it is real on the back of it is says

swiss

inside of the back it says swiss made

and inside on the movements it says 17 jewels seventeen adjusted or un justed not sure please help

and in very very tiy letters it says swiss on the movements and most of the movements are gold

and it is a mechanical wind up

Perpetual Movement – another term for an automatic or self-winding movement, this movement causes a weight inside the watch to rotate backwards and forwards, thus keeping it in constant tension.

Serial Number – an identification number of a watch, usually engraved between the lugs, this number can often be used to date the production of the watch.

Sweeping Movement – refers to the movement of the second hand quickly ‘ticking’ at approximately 5-8 times per second, thus giving the illusion of sweeping.
